Choosing Millworks means opting for quality, reliability and a professional service tailored to meet your specifications. As a family-run business we take pride in manufacturing all of our products in-house, in the UK, allowing us to manage the process from start to finish and ensure high quality standards.
We are committed to reducing carbon emissions through sustainable manufacturing processes and efficient energy use. Our primary energy source is solar power, harnessed directly from solar panels installed at our manufacturing site. We continuously invest in the latest machinery and innovative technologies, operating a fleet of electric forklifts to minimise our environmental impact and strive to replace energy intensive processes with lower consumption alternatives wherever possible.
Our processes are designed in line with our commitment to minimal waste manufacturing. Investment in sorting and regrading technology allows us to efficiently utilise resources and manufacture each order to exact specifications. We source timber in sizes aimed to minimise off-cuts and reduce waste product. Any waste that cannot be reused is repurposed for the animal bedding industry serving over 200 farms. This in turn has a dual role as once used, the bedding is collected and converted into biomass energy supplied across Cambridge, Suffolk and Norfolk.
We are dedicated to sourcing sustainably certified timber. Our products are FSC® and PEFC™ certified reflecting our commitment to sustainable forestry management and actively working to improve long-term social and economic well-being of forestry communities. Partnering with leading forestry experts, Millworks supports implementation of cutting-edge practices and focused developments that support the longevity of each timber species to meet the demands of a changing climate. Our certifications align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 15, which seeks to protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, and prevent biodiversity loss.
As proud members of Timber Development UK (TDUK), we adhere to the Responsible Purchasing Policy, a comprehensive risk management framework. This policy guides our procurement practices, ensuring due diligence and reinforcing our commitment to sourcing timber from legal and well-managed forests. Our practices align with the TDUK Code of Conduct’s core criteria and comply with the UK Timber Regulation for legally harvested imports.
