Hardwearing

Naturally resistant to bacteria, pests and fungal decay, the high resin content of Douglas Fir makes it one of the most hardwearing softwoods. Making it perfect for interior wall and ceiling cladding with a long, maintenance free service life.

Beautiful Texture

With large, interesting grain pattern, Douglas Fir provides a unique character to your project when finished with a surface texture to accentuate the beauty of the timber.

Versatile

Douglas Fir trees can grow to a height of 50M+ meaning long length boards are available for a striking finish. The strength and density of the boards make this species favourable as a cost effective alternative to Oak.

Stability

Douglas Fir is kiln dried at source making it dimensionally stable. As a result, it resists warping, twisting and checking perfect for a range of interior uses.

Millworks Clear & Better

This grade of Douglas Fir is of the finest quality and has a limited amount of knots. This results in a consistent look.

In addition to our standard planed finish, surface texture can be added to create accentuated depth to the timber grain. Surface textures are recommended when coatings are applied to improve performance and enable enhanced adhesion and longevity.

Douglas Fir is a great choice for surface textures and factory coatings providing and interesting finish to any interior project.

Coatings can be applied under controlled factory conditions with Millworks state of the art finishing line. Alternatively, on-site products can be advised and supplied.

FRX Exterior fire retardant can be applied to Douglas Fir cladding when specified, to comply with national Building Regulations where Euroclass B or C are required. Applied under controlled conditions in a vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant. The treatment complies with ISO accreditation, which does not compromise critical properties such as strength, durability, corrosivity and hygroscopicity.

Specifically manufactured stainless-steel fixings, available in secret-fix, face-fix or clip systems, are designed for Millworks® timber cladding and decking profiles. Our fixings ensure long service life for best performance of the timber and coatings in any location. Full details available on specification data sheet.
