Abodo Vulcan® is a vertical grain, thermally-modified timber that offers exceptional performance, durability and sustainability. Responsibly sourced from new-growth Radiata pine, and enhanced through a heat-tempering process, it delivers the performance of slow-grown timbers without the environmental cost.
Outstanding performance – Abodo Vulcan achieves Durability Class 1 (EN 350-1), placing it among the highest-performing timbers for long-term performance. When correctly detailed and maintained, it is designed to deliver decades of reliable service, making it a dependable choice.
Dimensional stability – The thermal modification process significantly reduces moisture content, giving Abodo Vulcan excellent dimensional stability and reduced movement. This stability allows the use of both standard and wide boards, up to 180 mm, without compromising performance. Its vertical grain construction further minimises board shrinkage and surface checking, helping to maintain the integrity, appearance and longevity of factory-applied coatings.
Design versatility – Available in large cross-sections and long lengths, Abodo Vulcan offers architects and designers greater freedom in detailing and specification. Its consistent quality and compatibility with factory coatings and modern installation methods make it suitable for a wide range of architectural styles and applications.
Environmentally responsible – Abodo Vulcan supports responsible forestry and helps reduce reliance on slow-growing or old-growth species. As a timber product, it stores carbon throughout its service life, with each square metre of cladding locking in more carbon than is emitted during manufacture and transport, making it a lower-impact option for environmentally conscious building projects.
