Imbue™
Imbue™ is a sustainable, thermally modified timber that delivers a clear‑grade appearance with a striking natural grain pattern. Sourced from FSC®‑certified Radiata Pine plantations in New Zealand, this rapidly renewable timber provides an environmentally responsible alternative to clear‑grade softwoods such as unsorted Larch.
Through a precision heat‑tempering process using steam and high temperatures, the molecular structure of the wood is altered to enhance durability and dimensional stability without the use of chemical preservatives. The result is a high‑quality, low‑movement timber with excellent coating compatibility and long‑term performance, making Imbue™ an attractive choice for external cladding and decking.
Benefits of Imbue™
Imbue™ Grading
Millworks A Grade
Millworks A Grade timber is a high-appearance grade, characterised by primarily clear lengths of timber with attractive grain patterns. Boards are flat-sawn with a limited number of small defects to the front face.
This grade is best suited for projects requiring a clean aesthetic with natural timber grain.
Similar to BS 1186-3 Class 1.

Imbue™ Applications
Imbue is a trusted option for external timber cladding. Its thermally modified structure provides low movement and consistent stability, making it suitable for a variety of cladding profiles and installation methods.
Imbue’s performance in outdoor environments ensures cladding retains its natural character and structural reliability over time, supporting contemporary and traditional architectural designs that prioritise sustainability and long-term functionality.

Imbue is a durable, stable and safe material for outdoor timber decking. Its non-toxic composition means it is safe for children and pets, making it suitable for residential gardens, recreational areas, and commercial spaces. The timber’s stability ensures boards remain flat and even, performing reliably even in high-traffic areas.
Imbue is compatible with the secret clip decking system, supporting seamless integration with other design elements to create functional, long-lasting, and visually cohesive outdoor spaces.

Imbue™ Finishes
Surface Textures
In addition to our standard planed finish, Imbue can be manufactured with a Brushed finish. A wire brushing process enhances the natural structure of wood and prepares the surface for factory coatings.
Factory Coatings
Although naturally durable, Imbue can be finished for protection against the elements. Millworks offers a range of factory coatings that serve both decorative and protective purposes, producing consistent results with a range of aesthetic options to suit your project. When left untreated and in the correct conditions, Imbue will weather to a natural silvery-grey patina.
Fire Treatment
FRX fire retardant can be pressure-impregnated into Imbue under ISO-controlled conditions to meet national Building Regulations for Euroclass B or C compliance.
