Hard Wearing

At approximately 980 kg per m3, Yellow Balau decking is very dense. This makes it hard wearing and perfect for high traffic areas.

Yellow Balau is hardwearing and durable which ensures a long, maintenance free service life. This therefore makes it a very popular choice for deck construction. Durability is to BS EN 350:2 Class 2.

Yellow Balau decking by Millworks has been correctly dried for the intended environment. Installed with the correct fixings Yellow Balau will maintain stability with a clean look for years to come.

  • Standard and Better

Yellow Balau decking has an interlocked grain, with a fine and even texture.

Occasional pinholes are present, this is allowed within the grading rules and does not affect the timber in any way.

Fire Retardant for Timber

When specified, fire retardant can be applied to timber products, to comply with Building Regulations. NON-COM Exterior can be applied under controlled conditions in a vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant. Or, HR Prof can be applied on site.

Weathering or Finishing

Yellow Balau will weather to a silver-grey, if left untreated.
Although naturally durable, Yellow Balau can be finished for protection against the elements. This will keep it looking consistent on all areas of your project. Millworks recommend treating with OSMO Bangkirai natural oil.

Stainless-steel fixings should be used on Yellow Balau decking because natural oils in the timber have a corrosive effect on ferrous metals. Millworks advise 60mm Trim Head decking screws that will look clean and crisp; providing a secure long lasting fixing.
