Benefits of ThermoWood® Ash
ThermoWood® Ash Grading
Millworks Grade A
Millworks A Grade timber is a high-quality grade, featuring primarily clear flat-sawn boards that showcase unique and interesting grain patterns. This grade is characterised by long, clear sections of timber with limited isolated defects, such as small knots and irregularities.
This grade is perfect for projects requiring a refined and elegant finish.
Similar to BS 1186-3 Class 1.

ThermoWood® Ash Applications
ThermoWood® Ash is an ideal choice for external cladding, offering enhanced durability and a sophisticated finish. The thermal modification process significantly reduces moisture absorption, making it highly resistant to warping, cracking, and fungal decay. Clear in grade and with minimal knots, the natural grain pattern is highlighted, creating a sleek, contemporary finish that complements a wide range of architectural styles.

ThermoWood® Ash combines an elegant appearance and improved dimensional stability. The rich tones created through thermal treatment add warmth to interior spaces, enhancing the natural beauty of timber to create inviting spaces. With a lower thermal conductivity compared to non-modified woods, ThermoWood® Ash helps maintain a stable indoor temperature by reducing heat transfer. This not only improves comfort but also contributes to energy efficiency, making it an excellent choice for interior wall and ceiling cladding.

ThermoWood® Ash provides superior stability and strength, ensuring long-lasting performance in outdoor environments. As a hardwood, it is naturally hardwearing, offering improved resistance to dents and scratches, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. The thermal modification process further enhances its structural integrity, reducing the risk of splintering or warping, making it a comfortable and reliable option for outdoor living spaces.

ThermoWood® Ash Finishes
Surface Textures
In addition to our standard planed finish, surface texture can be added to create accentuated depth to the timber grain. Surface textures are recommended when coatings are applied to improve performance and enable enhanced adhesion and longevity.
Factory Coatings
In the correct conditions, ThermoWood® Ash will weather to a silver-grey, if left untreated. Although naturally durable, ThermoWood® Ash can be finished for protection against the elements. Millworks offers a range of factory coatings that serve both decorative and protective purposes, producing consistent results with a range of aesthetic options to suit your project.
Fire Treatment
FRX fire retardant can be pressure-impregnated into ThermoWood® Ash under ISO-controlled conditions to meet national Building Regulations for Euroclass B or C compliance.
