WESTERN RED CEDAR FENCING SCREENS

Garden screens made from clear grade Western Red Cedar add a striking, contemporary look to your garden project. Available in Western Red Cedar or Siberian Larch to suit your garden. Create a contemporary fence in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal design.

These trim battens can also be used as cladding on a range of projects.

Installation

Contemporary fencing made from Cedar battens are popular with professionals because of the simple installation and always achieves a stunning look. Therefore, makes the perfect do-it-yourself project too!

  1. Install posts at 1.8m or 2.44m centres.
  2. Start at the bottom levelling and fixing your 1st battens.
  3. Using your battens as a 19mm spacer, work your way up to height.
  4. Fix any trim boards to hide fixings or for extra support.

Weathering or Finishing

In the correct conditions, Western Red Cedar fencing will weather to a silver-grey, if left untreated.
Although naturally durable, Cedar fencing can be finished for protection against the elements. This will keep it looking consistent on all elevations of your project.

Mill Works recommend OSMO clear UV protection oil, this will maintain Cedars beautiful colour palette.

Fixings

Stainless-steel fixings should be used because natural oils in the timber have a corrosive effect on ferrous metals. Annular ring shank nails or screws can be used.

Fire Retardant for Timber

When specified, NON-COM Exterior fire retardant can be applied to Western Red Cedar, to comply with Building Regulations. This is applied under controlled conditions in a vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant. The treatment complies with ISO accreditation and is accepted by the National House Building Council (NHBC) Building Control for exterior cladding.
