Millworks Ltd has recently taken a significant step forward in our environmental responsibility by investing in solar panels to power our Cambridge-based operations. This decision reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, embracing green energy, and planning for a future where sustainability is at the forefront of our business practices. To optimize our energy usage and reduce operational costs, we appointed Infinite Heating, a leader in renewable energy solutions, to design and install an 80-kilowatt solar PV system tailored to our needs.
A Customized Solar Solution
The newly installed solar energy system is a state-of-the-art setup, comprising of 190 high-efficiency Trina Vertex Mono solar panels, designed to capture sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. This energy is then transformed into alternating current (AC) electricity suitable for our operations by two inverters. This sophisticated system is expected to generate a remarkable 66,172 kWh of clean electricity every year providing a significant portion of Millworks energy needs and lowering emissions of 14,050 kilograms of CO2 annually.
Economic Benefits
While the environmental benefits of our solar investment are paramount, the financial advantages are equally compelling. We anticipate a saving of around £10,741 in the first year alone, with the system designed to achieve a payback period of just four years. By generating our own electricity, we can reduce our costs and protect our business from the volatility of energy prices as our reliance on grid electricity decreases. This economic advantage makes our solar system not only an environmentally responsible choice but also a sound financial decision.
Emissions lowered by 14,050 kilograms of CO2 annually, the equivalent to the CO2 absorbed by 645 trees.
